Uniden Australia is proud to announce its sponsorship of 78-year-old racing legend Richard Mork, who will take to the track once again at Mount Panorama for his 93rd Bathurst race start, competing in the V8 SuperUtes category from October 9-12. As part of its commitment to supporting Australian motorsport, Uniden will be sponsoring two cars at this year’s Bathurst 1000, with Mork set to make headlines as one of the oldest and most experienced drivers on the grid.

Mork, who began his motorsport career in 1964, has spent six decades behind the wheel across a wide variety of disciplines, from drag racing and rally to club sport, motorkhanas, dirt circuits, and touring cars. His racing résumé reads like a tour through Australia’s greatest circuits, including Castlereagh, Amaroo, Oran Park, Silverdale, Bulli, Hampton, and of course, Bathurst.

This year, Mork returns to Mount Panorama not only to extend his remarkable racing legacy but also to fill in for Chris Formosa, who is sidelined due to injury and unable to compete at Bathurst or Sandown.

Richard Mork said, “At 78, I’m thrilled to be back at Bathurst. It’s a track that has defined so much of my career and passion for racing. Motorsport has always been about pushing limits, and I’m grateful to Uniden for giving me the opportunity to get back behind the wheel and do what I love most.”

Brad Hales, Head of Marketing, Oceania at Uniden, said, “Richard’s story is nothing short of inspirational. His commitment to motorsport across six decades is a testament to the spirit of racing in Australia. We are incredibly proud to sponsor Richard and have two cars at Bathurst this year, and we look forward to seeing him inspire fans both young and old.”

With his first motorsport entry dating back to 1964, and countless events spanning drag strips, rally stages, and Australia’s most iconic circuits, Mork continues to embody the grit,

determination, and joy of racing. His return to Bathurst in the V8 SuperUtes will be a true celebration of motorsport heritage.

Uniden also sponsors 22-year-old driver Holly Espray in the V8 SuperUte Series, who will also compete in Bathurst this month.
